How to Care for Master Silk | PYDAXA
Master Silk Is Not Meant to Be Replaced
Master silk is not something you replace.
It is something you keep.
And like anything worth keeping, it asks for care — not complicated, but intentional.
Understanding What Your Piece Is Made Of
Most PYDAXA pieces are not made from a single material.
They combine master silk — known for its light-sensitive structure — with PYDAXA Inlay™, where layers are cut and revealed beneath the surface, and sterling silver elements integrated directly into the construction.
Each element requires care.
Together, they demand precision.
The rule is simple:
Treat the piece as its most delicate part.
Care for PYDAXA Inlay™ and Silver Pieces
For garments that combine PYDAXA Inlay™ with silver detailing, professional dry cleaning by a specialist in natural fibres is the only recommended method.
The reason is structural.
PYDAXA Inlay™ panels are composed of layered silk that has been cut and revealed by hand. These layers are not reinforced like conventional seams. Any mechanical movement — brushing, scrubbing, or machine washing — can disrupt the geometry of the piece.
The silver elements are not applied after construction. They are integrated into the garment itself. Over time, improper cleaning can weaken the threads that hold them in place.
Avoid completely:
- Machine washing (even delicate mode)
- Scrubbing or brushing
- Strong detergents
If immediate cleaning is required, gently blot the area with a damp cloth. Then bring the piece to a professional as soon as possible.

Storage — Preserving Structure and Material
Store your piece in a breathable cotton or muslin garment bag.
Avoid plastic.
Avoid humidity.
Avoid pressure.
For garments with silver detailing, this is especially important. Silver reacts to moisture and enclosed environments.
Keep the piece:
- Folded or supported properly
- Away from direct light
- Away from contact with other garments that may catch or press into the surface
Natural repellents such as cedar or lavender can be placed nearby — never directly touching the fabric.
For Pure Silk Pieces (Without Inlay or Silver)
If the garment does not contain PYDAXA Inlay™ or metal elements, hand washing is possible — with care.
Use cold water and a detergent specifically designed for silk.
Gently move the garment through water.
Do not scrub.
Do not twist.
Do not soak for long periods.
Rinse thoroughly.
Five minutes is enough.
A washing machine, even on delicate settings, will damage the structure of the silk.
Drying — Protecting the Form
Never hang silk while wet.
Lay the garment flat on a clean towel.
Roll gently to remove excess water.
Then lay it flat again in the shade to dry naturally.
Heat and gravity are the two things that will permanently distort silk.
Avoid both.
Ironing — When Necessary
If pressing is required:
- Turn the garment inside out
- Use the lowest heat setting
- Place a cotton cloth between the iron and the silk
No direct heat.
No steam directly on the fabric.
For garments with PYDAXA Inlay™ or silver, professional pressing is strongly recommended.
Stains — Act Immediately, Not Aggressively
Blot. Do not rub.
Use a clean, dry cloth to absorb the stain.
Then take the garment to a specialist.
At-home treatments, even gentle ones, can damage silk — and more critically, compromise layered construction like PYDAXA Inlay™.
What Happens When You Care for It Properly
A well-kept silk garment does not simply last.
It evolves.
The texture softens.
The color deepens.
The piece begins to carry something no new garment can offer — presence.
That is what we design for.
Pieces worth keeping.
Final Note
If you are unsure how to care for a specific PYDAXA piece, we are always available to advise.
Every piece is different.
And it deserves to be treated that way.
